House of Flora

This year Third Floor Publication welcomes the incredible designs of House of Flora to their list of brilliant stockists. From strong geometric headwear to statement jewelery pieces, House of Flora produces some of the most futuristic designs we have seen to date.

Worn by the likes of Lady Gaga and showcased on SHOWstudio, House of Flora has proven its mark on the fashion world with their innovative and structured designs. Our team had the pleasure of viewing these great pieces at London Fashion Week this year and instantly knew it would be perfect for our Brain Augmentation photoshoot based around the concept of adapting our minds to have personalities and traits that are more favourable. Our stylist for the shoot, Madeline Wilson worked closely alongside House of Flora to ensure the best pieces of their collections were chosen for the shoot.

Here are some of the pieces we have used our Brain Augmentation shoot.

Here is a sneak peak of the Brain Augmentation photoshoot that we did with some of the House of Flora pieces you see above. See if you can spot which ones are being used in this shot! For the shoot we used two female models; a patient and a doctor. It follows the possibilities of replacing your personality with a new one and adapting your traits to best suit your needs which is also a subject we feature in one of our articles also written by our stylist, Madeline Wilson. This may seem farfetched and completely unattainable but Madeline has done a brilliant job proving to you otherwise in this years issue. Make sure to keep an eye out for it in Issue Seven! It's one to not miss.

We absolutely adore the House of Flora brand and are very pleased with how well the jewelery and headpieces worked with our shoot for this years issue. What do you think? Let us know below!

London Fashion Week: Street Style Part Three

Here is part three of our London Fashion Week 2014 street style through the lens of our photographer, Emily Cross.

We had the pleasure to photograph both model Amy Willerton and rapper Tino Kamal during our time at London Fashion Week! Amy was as beautiful as ever sporting a timeless look of high waisted black shorts and a cream jacket. As you can imagine, she was being followed by a lot of press so we unfortunately didn't have a chance to stop her for a chat about her outfit! Maybe next time, Amy?

Tino is wearing head to toe Kokan To Zai with a Julia Cameron body chain but no doubt the best accessories are his trademark tattoos. You should check out his music available via his Soundcloud here.

These two looks embody a fun and oversized attitude towards dressing yourself. Keep it simple with brightly coloured pom poms on knitwear or go all out with a digitized pixel frenzy featuring metallics and colour clashing.

Combine oversized with structure and straight lines by experimenting with jumpers with neat trousers or tidy up a relaxed outfit with a smart coat to add definition.

Combining textures and styles is something we noticed a lot at London Fashion Week. As pictured above combining furs with the structure of a pencil skirt or trousers in the same colour spectrum really completes the look. We also love the all over primary tone look seen on the left. Simple yet utterly sophisticated!

We love this business chic look that exhibits the silhouette of a professional woman and yet is fashion forward. It is always such a great look and it is interesting to see how different people can dress it up. A mix of androgyny and femininity with the use of pristine makeup paired with structured and practical outfits makes for such a statement look.

We absolutely love outfits in one colour for this season. Keep it minimal and stick with one colour palette and combine tones. Combining different textures such as heavy knits and light fabrics add interest and depth to your look and truly makes a statement.

Haven't spotted yourself yet? There are still more photos to come in our last and final blog post of London Fashion Week street style that is due to be posted this week, keep an eye out for it!

London Fashion Week: Street Style Part Two

Our stylists and photographers were very busy during London Fashion Week documenting all of London's street style during the most exciting week for fashion of the year. Here is London Fashion Week 2014 through the lens of our photographer, Emily Cross.

Our fashion stylist (left) Tori Heath-Smith is wearing an oversized duster coat in a muted blue tone against her monochrome outfit. We love this look paired with a contrasting red lip and heeled boots to give a toughened edge.

We love this aztec/geometric print (right) used in a structured and sleak style. Paired with knee high leather boots and a satchel completely reinvents such a busy print. Perfect for the transition into spring!

This autumn/winter welcomed back the punk look in a completely revived style. Seen here on the right, pair with a big clutch and some killer heels to bring femininity back into an otherwise masculine look.

All over prints paired with a metallic bag takes us to a futuristic age. We especially love how the outfit has a lot of coverage of the body but is paired with a peep-toe heel.

We noticed a lot of men using clutch bags at London Fashion Week this year and we absolutely love it! These two guys pair their clutches with a structured jacket, neat hairstyles and button up shirts. We love this look and how versatile it is for every man.

We love attention to detail and shown here (left) are rolled up jeans showing her boots and socks. Breaking denim on denim with a mustard cardigan really contrasts again the navy jacket. Without the jacket it is a relaxed every day look that is well thought out and with the jacket, it is transformed into a structured and refined style.

What was your favourite look shown in this post? Maybe you are in some of these images! Let us know! We have many more posts coming up with the street style of London Fashion Week so keep an eye out for more and see if you can spot yourself.

London Fashion Week: HEMYCA

At London Fashion Week this season, the team at Third Floor Publication were very excited to view HEMYCA's presentation of their new Autumn/Winter 2014 collection called "Neoteric".

What was evident in this presentation was the overall experience. Viewers were asked to stand in the middle of the room whilst the promotional video of the new collection was projected on the entire front wall. Models would appear and pose in front of this as a backdrop for several minutes and then follow towards the back of the room into lighted hung cages. These turned them into almost live window models for the screening.

The theme of the collection reminded us of raven-like women, who were once restricted (reminiscent of the capes used throughout the collection) who are then broken free and are able to start a new life. We especially loved this quote, taken from the HEMYCA Neoteric film's description: "Until the end there is plenty of time for a new beginning, a new future."

Our theme for the publication this year is Liminality which defines as finding yourself in a process of change in between two boundaries. This beautifully executed collection with an inspiring message really drove home to us that this year's theme is evident in today's fashion orientated world.

Our Stylist & Features Editor, Madeline Wilson spoke with co-designer of HEMYCA, Myra Nigris personally and she was able to get a first-hand explanation of the collection and in return, Myra Nigris gave great feedback on the Third Floor publication. We enjoyed the presentation so much that we stayed for the second viewing as it was just that captivating. Thank you for our goodie bags, Myra Nigris!

Daily Favourite #35

Summer Florals: Now the weather is warming up, it seems like the right time to start looking for some new summer pieces for our wardrobes. Florals are great for Spring/Summer, and we found this floral blazer that we just love at Zara. Its the perfect little blazer for the summer with its slouchy fit and feminine print. The contrasting lapels also add  a nice touch. You can find it here if you would like to have a look at it yourself! What are you looking to add to your wardrobe for spring?

Daily Favourite #34

Fashionable Prosthetics: The Alternative Limb Project is a company founded and run by prosthesis designer Sophie de Oliveira Barata. The concept is to create prosthetic limbs for people with a twist. There are 3 options available to clients; real, surreal or unreal. Real limbs are very finely detailed realistic representations of the missing limb. Surreal limbs are realistic ideas merged with imaginative ideas, for example bionic pieces laid into the limb. Unreal limbs are completely unusual and barely represent a realistic limb at all, for example jewelled, with storage pockets or covered in a painting. The possibilities of what can be created are endless. We love the idea of being able to create something completely imaginative and exciting to match your personality. What do you think of this idea?
